DAY WINES White Wine, Chehalem Mountains ‘Tears of Vulcan’ 2021

Showcasing a beautiful orange-ruby core with a silvery rim in the glass, this interesting combination of Viognier (49%), Pinot Gris (43%), and Muscat (8%) is left on the skins for about 24 days during primary fermentation and then aged for 6 months in neutral French and Acacia oak and one new Acacia oak barrel. Boasting notes of fresh fragrant orange blossom, kiwi fruit, white grapefruit zest, toasted white pepper, and some bell pepper tones. It gifts wonderful acidity and texture on the palate. This wine made me sit back and think, and that’s hard to do after tasting and reviewing thousands of wines a year. It’s not for everyone, but everyone should give it a try. Editors Choice.
