Tech sheets did not specify the exact blend, but typically this wine is an interesting combination of 70% estate-grown Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley and 30% Syrah from the Seven Hills Vineyard. The melange is peculiar and on paper doesn’t seem to work, but it actually produces a wine that I would not only enjoy drinking, but I would buy on the regular. The Pinot delivers notes of red and black raspberry, black tea and vanilla while the Syrah gives it those meaty, gamey and olive characteristics. Acidity is medium plus, while the chalky tannins and the full-body are a joy on the palate. Another year or two in the cellar is needed for this to come together but after that, enjoy over the next decade.
