LINGUA FRANCA Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity ‘Novo Vivo’ 2020

In Oregon, 2020 was a devastating vintage because of the forest fires that ripped through the valley before harvest. Most wineries didn’t even attempt to make red wine because of the possibility of smoke taint. I’m incredibly impressed with what Lingua Franca has been able to pull off with this Pinot Noir. Displaying notes of red raspberry, blue plum, blueberry pie, leather, and earthy qualities, I do detect just a hint of campfire on the nose, but not as much on the palate, but then again, I am extremely susceptible to it. I don’t know if the average consumer would even detect anything at all. It’s incredibly well made and a wine that I would recommend to anyone wanting to try a 2020 Pinot Noir from Oregon. It will be interesting to see how this evolves in the bottle moving forward - I think we may be pleasantly surprised.
