Own-rooted vines planted in 1986 produce the majority of the fruit for the 2019 Cuvée J Pinot Noir that is aged for 18 months in 15% new French oak barrels. It showcases a more tempered display in the glass, with a light ruby core and a neon-brick rim. The nose isn’t as dense and rich as some of the other Evesham Wood Pinots, with this one displaying aromas of red cherry, black raspberry, Naval orange, fresh lilac flower, and white linen. Acidity is tempered but still on the high side, while the crunch tannins and fruit-focused and herbal finish dance on the mid-palate. Enjoy this lovely wine now with a 4-5 hour decant or over the next decade. 269 cases made.
