Pommard-clone fruit from the Freedom Hill Vineyard from vines planted in 1996, this phenomenal Pinot Noir is the favorite of the group. A lovely colored core of purple-ruby, with a neon pink rim, showcases what’s to come in the glass. The nose is wonderfully spicey with notes of toasted pink peppercorn and cedary herbs jumping in front of the black cherry, wild huckleberry, wet earth, and cigar box aromas. The palate shows a bit of meatiness alongside racy acidity, luscious red and black fruit, and a dried herb finish. Better in 2023 and then cellar for another 10-15 years. For the price point, this wine over-delivers in spades. Only 45 cases made.
