Coming from the south area of the Eola-Amity AVA, with rich red soils, with vines planted in 1995, the 2019 Bunker Hill Chardonnay from Lingua Franca gifts a gorgeous nose and one of my favorite Chardonnays from the estate. It’s velvety and complex with aromas of toasted hazelnut, ripe yellow apple, ground anise, and Bosch pear. The palate is much the same, with some additional earthy and pine characteristics. The palate also delivers a touch of tannin, interestingly enough, that helps with the structure and the spectacular rich mouthfeel.
