The 2020 X-Omni Vineyard displays a little more depth and complexity than the Durant Vineyard and is aged for about a year in 60% new French oak barrels and then an additional 6 months in stainless steel before bottling. Chardonnay from 15 different clones, all from Block 5, are present in this wine. A light lemon core with a watery rim displays beautifully in the glass. Touches of Bartlett pear, lemon drop candy, dried sage, and toasted slivered almond exude with time and some air. On the entry, the palate is intense and flavorful, with mouthwatering acidity and a textured mouthfeel. Finishing with a mineral and citrusy tone, it’s a dead ringer for a Grand-Cru Burgundy. Just 90 cases made.
