This represents an absolutely fantastic value in Oregon white wine. Vitae Springs Vineyard, established in 1986 and expanded in 1999, is located in the rolling hills five miles south of Salem, Oregon. The grapes come from two blocks. The original planting is at the base of the 'home block [age 20 years]' on a warm south slope of well-drained Jory clay at an average elevation of 600 feet while the more recently planted 'Inwood' vineyard [age 12 years] is located steeper hillside on thinner, volcanic Nekia soil running from 600-760 feet. This compelling white wine has a straw color yielding aromas of Granny Smith apple, honeydew melon and orange blossom. The wine has flavors of poached pear, heavy cream and is beautifully balanced. The minerality is there. Exceptional winemaking here, as this could easily pass for a high end Alsacian Pinot Gris. (Best 2016-2023) - January, 2015 (OB)
