The 2014 'Summum' Chardonnay is another simply gorgeous wine from Evening Land. It was sourced from 14 rows planted to the iron-rich volcanic soils located near the middle of the Seven Spring vineyard and was aged for 10 months in 100% new Stockinger punchones prior to bottling. The wine itself opens with a lovely bouquet of lemon oil, tangerine rind and meringue followed by wet stones, citrus zest, brioche and baking spices all coming together beautifully in the glass. Intense, lithe and having wonderful overall balance, focus and weight, as it enters the precise, mineral driven finish. Today, this is already utterly compelling and a wonderful example of a world-class, age-worthy Chardonnay from Oregon. (Best 2017-2030) - March, 2017 (OB)
