The outstanding 2012 Ridge 'Geyserville' Red Wine is a compelling blend of 71% Zinfandel, 19% Carignane, 7% Petite Sirah, 2% Mataro and 1% Alicante Bouschet. Inky once in the glass, the wine takes on heady aromas of incense, mocha, ripe black plum and black cherry syrup that all entice. The palate is plush, showing a generous texture and mouthfeel. Black tea, blueberry pie, coffee grounds and suggestions of tar flavors all mingle nicely. Showing an edge of minerality, this exciting Zinfandel blend is drinking marvelously now but also has a long life ahead.
