The coup de gras of the great new Carillon lineup, the 2017 ‘Le Macherelles’ is a spectacular effort from this seventeenth century estate. Aromatically intense, layers of citrus zest with shades of clove infused mango and Challah bread all combine brilliantly in the glass. The palate has wonderful freshness and intensity, with a silky mouthfeel and texture. Bright lime zest and shades of cardamon mingle with minerals and crushed wet rock on the palate. Refined and elegant, with serious aging potential, this wine hasn’t quite hit its stride but has an exceedingly long life left.
