The 2016 'Fortis' is a wonderful release from Pine Ridge Vineyards which is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec and 4% Merlot sourced from the finest blocks from their Estate Vineyards in the Stags Leap Disrtict. This spent 22 months in 100% New French oak and instantly opens to aromas of dark currants and black cherries are woven together with baking spices, fresh vanilla and sweet toasted oak that all come together and burst from the glass. This full-bodied red is structured around beautifully polished tannins and displays excellent depth with a deep core laced with flavors of sweet dark/blue fruits, sweet spices and mocha that continue to linger through the long finish. This hedonistic Cabernet is already quite expressive and will be open for business up release, however it also shows potential to age gracefully and should go on to offer over a decade of drinking pleasure.
