The 2017 Campo di Camagi is an absolute beauty. This 100% Cabernet Franc spent 8 months in French oak barrels and 11 months in cement tanks. Displaying an impressive dark inky color, this stunning wine offers up gorgeous aromatics of fresh ripe blackberries and dark cherries, which are woven together with fresh violets, herbs and a lovely mineral character from the broken quartz soils and limestone rich soils. On the palate this is full-boded and impeccably structured with beautifully polished tannins and remarkable concentration. It all comes to an end with a long plush finish that leaves behind lustrous finish that shows wonderful length. A simply remarkable effort from Andrea Franchetti in this vintage. While this is simply outstanding today, it should also go on to evolve marvelously and offer a drinking window that spans two decades.
