The 2017 Tench Vineyard 'EE' Proprietary Red Wine is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. This stunning blend immediaterly begins to unfold in the glass, releasing its gorgeous aromatics of blackcurrants and dark cherries, which are laced with violets, fresh sage, mocha, espresso bean and a wonderful underlying stony mineral character. On the palate this full-bodied, with outstanding depth and concentration, with ample tannins that are plush and velvety, making for a lavish mouthfeel. Everything all comes together seamlessly, as layers of ripe dark fruits are underlined by a notable iron-mineral character that continues through the long, enveloping finish. This is another outstanding wine from Bevan that is nothing short of stunning today, but should also go on to have an incredibly long future ahead. This would be a fantastic wine to tuck away for a few years and watch it evolve over the next decade or two.
