The 2016 PerUs ‘Alessio’ is composed of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc from Sugar Loaf and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tench. It opens to seductive aromas of blackberries and dark currants, which are woven together with dark chocolate shavings, mocha, tobacco, sweet oak nuances that all take shape in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, layers and opulent, with big polished tannins and a deep concentrated core of ripe dark fruits which expand through the long enveloping finish. This is an absolutely seductive wine made by Russell Bevan that is drinking excellent today and should continue to deliver for years to come.
