The Hideaway Vineyard is situated on rocky slopes of Chappellet's secluded Hideaway Vineyard, located at an elevation of 1,425 feet, high on the slopes of Pritchard Hill. This is a fantastic showing in this vintage, as this open to inviting aromas of blackberries and cassis woven together with spices, graphite, sage, violets and hints of cloves and tobacco. On the palate this is medium-plus to full-bodied and impeccably structured with brawny, well-polished tannins holding it all together. It goes on to impress with its excellent overall concentration and balance all the way through the long, firm finish. This is a pleasure to approach at this early stage, however this age-worthy mountain Cabernet should have an extremely bright future ahead and evolve gracefully for quite some time.
