The Red Hen Vineyard is located in Oak Knoll AVA, and consists of soils that are composed of mainly well drained gravelly loam with some clay. These characteristics reflect beautifully in the wine as it begins with inviting aromas of dark cherries and cassis, violets, graphite, spices, fresh herbs, iron, along with wet clay and gravel nuances all emerging from the glass. The palate is medium-plus to full-bodied and beautifully structured with refined, velvety tannins. It displays a remarkable balance of fruit and acidity, with wonderful freshness and purity all they way through the long, supple finish. This is already simply stunning in its youth and should also go on to have a brilliant future.
