A left-bank Bordeaux blend that comprises 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot and 8% Merlot, this Cabernet-dominant blend could be placed from the Washington Rocks area in a blind tasting fairly easily. It is terroir-driven, expressive on the nose, gorgeous on the palate and downright delicious. Let’s start with the nose - imagine aromas of black plum, wild black currant, unsweetened chocolate, espresso powder, sweet toasted cinnamon and just a touch of cedar bark. The palate shows a perfectly balanced combination of acid, fruit, alcohol and length and delivers flavors of fresh blackberry, saddle leather, a pinch of nutmeg, and a squeeze of orange oil. One of my favorite Cabernets to come out of Washington. A perfectly balanced and delicious Washington Cabernet dominant blend. Drinks beautifully now but will be even better in 2-3 years. Highly recommended.
