The 2018 ‘Firebelle’ is another beautiful wine from Larkmead in this vintage. Composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, this slowly begins to evolve in the glass as it releases its aromas of fresh dark cherries and cassis, which are woven together with fresh cut florals, exotic spices, tobacco, cedar and hints of forest floor that all emerge beautifully from the glass. This continues to impress on the palate as it offers stunning freshness and purity, with a gorgeous medium-plus body, that is structured with fine, polished tannins which result in a simply luxurious mouthfeel that displays incredible precision and focus. The balance of fruit and acidity is remarkable, as everything works together seamlessly through the long, beautifully finessed finish.
