This sensational Chardonnay comes from the famous Hyde Vineyard, which is located on the Napa side of the Carneros District. Within the vineyard, the fruit is sourced from block of old Wente field selection that was planted in 1997 and 1999 to heavy Haire Clay Loam about 30 inches deep with impenetrable clay subsoil that limits vine vigor and crop yield. This fabulous Chardonnay begins to impress as it releases its seductive aromas of ripe pears, Honeycrisp apples, toasted almonds, sea breeze and hints of wet stones that are just about impossible to resist. On the palate this is beautifully textured and balanced, with a gorgeous combination of fruit and acidity that persist through the vibrant finish. Overall, this is a stunning Chardonnay that is absolutely brilliant today, however it should also continue to drink exceptionally well for years to come.
