The 2019 'Il Don' is composed of 100% Cabernet Franc, and it is one of the most impressive examples you will find. This stunning wine bursts open to seductive aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries which are woven together with cocoa powder, tobacco, black olive, iron, violets, fresh mountain herbs and hints of spices that all take shape in the glass. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured with a gorgeous plush texture that is underlined by a lovely touch of acidity keeping it fresh and inviting. It shows wonderful concentration and depth, with fantastic length on the finish as dark fruits and exotic spices continue to linger on. This is another fabulous wine from the Lerner's and winemaker Russell Bevan in this vintage, and while it is sensational in its youth, it will also offer a drinking window that should span at least two decades.
