The 2019 'AXR' is the flagship wine and it hits on all levels. It begins with wonderful aromatics of ripe blackberries, dark plums and black cherries that are joined by exotic spices, violets, pepper, tobacco, dark chocolate shavings and hints of sage which are all evolving in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, dense and concentrated. It offers a gorgeous round, plush enveloping mouthfeel that is loaded with ripe dark berries, dark plums and sweet spices which resonate through the long, voluptuous finish. This fruit forward expressive wine is simply delicious and drinking exceptionally well at this early age. Overall, an excellent wine from Jean Hoefliger and the team at AXR on their flagship release.
