The Kistler Vineyard Chardonnay comes from their original plantings on the western edge of the Mayacama mountains. The wine itself, it is simply gorgeous, showing remarkable restraint and poise. It offers lovely aromatics of Meyer lemon, quince, white nectarine and pineapple which come together with spring flowers, honey and flinty nuances that emerge beautifully from the glass. On the palate it is medium to full bodied and impeccably balanced, with a well-defined structure that supports the lavish and layered mouthfeel. Classy and sophisticated, this is an utterly compelling wine from Kistler in 2018 and while it is already captivating in its youth, the best is yet to come for this fabulous wine.
