Weitz Vineyard is situated high above the Silverado Trail on the eastern Oakville Bench and renown for its red volcanic soil and ample morning and afternoon sunlight. The result is a simply sensational Cabernet which opens to striking aromatics of ripe blackberries, blueberries and cassis woven together with lovely exotic spices, floral, graphite and hints of chocolate nuances. Full-bodied and opulent, this impresses with its remarkable depth and concentration as well as its gorgeous inner sweetness, and round, seamless texture making it impossible to resist. Beautifully ripened flavors of crème de cassis and blue fruits merge with spices, graphite and chocolate which expand beautifully through the long finish. This is simply outstanding now, but should only show even more nuanced qualities over time.
