The 2019 Joseph Phelps Insignia is once again a fabulous showing for this iconic Napa Valley wine, which is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. It begins with captivating aromatics of ripe dark currants and black cherries, which are laced with exotic spices, loam, graphite, violets and wild sage nuances all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a full body that is structured with finely polished tannins. It displays wonderful overall depth while remaining balanced and poised all they way through the long finish. There is a lovely sense of seamless elegance about the 2019 that is simply gorgeous and making it quite appealing, even at this early stage. That said, this is sure to age brillianty for years to come.
