Washington Chardonnays are tough in that they are oftentimes flabby with not a lot of character. Leave it up to Matias Kusulas to help change my thinking. Aged in 20% new French oak, the 2020 Conner Lee Chardonnay is wonderfully reductive to start, with lots of flint and stony minerality popping from the glass. Racy acidity pairs perfectly with the fresh yellow nectarine, sliced yellow apple, and green Honeydew melon alongside aromas of yellow wildflowers and sea breeze.
