The 2020 Signature Mountain Blend is an incredibly expressive, full-throttle wine from Hertelendy. This powerful red bursts open with wonderful aromatics that showcase loads of ripe black cherries, blackberries and a hint of blueberry, which are joined by sweet exotic spices, sweet toasted oak, herbs, mocha, iron and hints of melted black licorice nuances. On the palate this is full-bodied and opulent, with dense layers of ripe dark and blue fruits that are underlined by a lovely touch of acidity providing a sense of freshness and balance. It shows incredible concentration, power and intensity all the way through the long supple finish. This is a massive, towering wine that is excellent today and will not require any cellaring. Despite the difficulties faced in 2020, the Signature Mountain Blend from Hertelendy didn't miss a beat, and enthusiasts looking for a big time Napa valley wine from the vintage should seek this out.
