The 2021 'AxR1' is comprised from a selection of fruit from vineyards across Napa that are blended together with each site adding their own personality to form this stunning wine. It begins with seductive aromatics of beautifully ripe blackberries, currants and dark plums, which are laced with spices, mocha, violets, graphite shavings and crushed gravel all taking shape. The palate is just as impressive, offering a gorgeous full-body that is impeccably structured with beautifully polished tannins that are underlined by a lovely touch of acidity providing excellent freshness. Everything works together seamlessly, as it shows incredible balance and poise all the way through the long finish. While this is already extremely impressive on release, it should certainly become even more captivating as it evolves over the course of the next decade.
