The 2021 V. Madrone Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a a marvelous showing from AxR. It immediately impresses with its gorgeous aromatic profile of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, black cherries and suggestions of blueberries, which are accented by spices, mocha, savory herbs, tobacco, dusty graphite and shades of dark floral nuances all coming together beautifully in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied, concentrated and well-structured, with a wonderful layered texture and lovely acids providing freshness. It goes on to display excellent overall balance and depth, with a ripe core of dark fruits that are laced with violets, herbs and crushed gravel characteristics that weave their way through the long, polished finish. This is another sensatinal bottle from AxR in this vintage and should go on to offer many years of drinking enjoyment ahead.
