With vines planted in 1886, it’s some of the oldest fruit coming from the state of California, the 2021 Monte Rosso is a stunning effort that people should pay attention to. A bright medium ruby-blue core with a lighter pink rim in the glass, it boasts fantastic notes of red and black cherries, forest herbs, and sweet spice alongside shades of peach yogurt and toasted walnuts. Fresh and lively across the entirety of the palate, it ends with fine-grained tannins and perfect levels of acidity. A total of 6 barrels was made. Highly recommended.
