The scintillating 2021 Lucille Chardonnay from Walter Scott was fermented and aged in approximately 75% new French oak for 12 months and then finished for 4 months in stainless steel. Coming from old vines that were planted in 1995, you can feel the terroir across the rounded mouthfeel. Boisterous aromas of spring flowers, yellow peaches, volcanic stones, saline, and sweet spice, it’s incredibly complex and structured, delivering gorgeous fruit and mineral notes on the finish. This one should age well for the next 10-15 years with proper cellaring. Just 120 cases made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
