CASTELLI DEL GREVEPESA Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 'Lamole' 2013
The Lamole vines are planted to sandy, clay soils, among the boulders and usually grown in a traditional system that is known as “Alberello” where the vines grow in a tree like fashion. This system is rarely used today because of the labor intensive work it requires to manage these vines, however it seems to be paying off as the 2013 ‘Lamole’ Gran Selezione is a fantastic showing, which offers aromatics of dark cherries, plums, spices, leather and hints of espresso. Full-bodied, structured and velvety with well polished tannins that expand on to a long finish. While this is accessible now, it could still benefit from some short term cellaring.
