The 2009 Lapostolle Clos Apalta is a truly fascinating wine, offering bold aromas of freshly crushed blackberries, cassis, spices, pepper, graphite, roasted coffee, and some spring floral notes. It's dense, rich and layered displaying power and finesse with a beautiful firm velvety texture. Shows amazing balance and structure getting a blast of energy and momentum from the underlying acidity. The chilean terroir makes an appearance on the ultra-long mouthwatering finish. The 78% Carmenère; 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot was aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months before being transferred directly to bottle without any further treatment or filtration. Outstanding. (Best 2015-2030) - December, 2012 (JD)
