Vieux Chateau Chauvin is located in northwestern Saint Emilion, overlooking Château Cheval Blanc. The 2009 delivers blackberries, currant, damp earth, floral, toasted oak and hints of nutmeg, which leap from the glass. The round, yet firm tannins carry the fruit into the supple finish that turns long and chewy. Shows character, very solid. Composed of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
