The 2008 Léoville Barton is already showing lots of character, with ripe dark cherries, blackberries, toast, charcoal, spring flowers and some gorgeous fresh minerals leaping from the glass. It has a pretty, silky texture, demonstrating excellent structure and balance with wonderful underling acidity through the core. There is no need to wait much longer on this, it is approachable now, but if you are willing, it will also continue evolve beautifully over the next decade or more.
