The 2016 Chateau Les Vimieres Le Tronquera opens up to gorgeous aromatics of ripe cherries and blackberries, accented by tobacco, spices, licorice and violets which all come together and burst the glass. Palate is medium to full-bodied and impeccably structured, with polished tannins and a deep core of ripe dark and red cherry fruit characteristics that resonate throughout the wine. Shows excellent overall balance through the sleek finish. While this is already quite appealing today, it should become even more compelling as it evolves in bottle over the next decade and beyond. This is absolutely fantastic and a hidden gem from one of Bordeaux’s most talented winemakers/consultants Éric Boissenot.
