A solid showing from Château Lynch-Bages in this vintage, the 2011 is shapeing up nicely and starting to show some lovely mature characteristics. Composed of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, this begins with inviting aromas of dark cherries and currants, joined by lovely nuances of tobacco, dried flowers, burnt toast and fresh minerals all emerging from the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and well balanced, with fine polished tannins and a elegant mouthfeel which is underlined with a stoney mineral streak that continues through the finish. While this is becoming approachable, the 2011 still has some evoling to do. Nonetheless, it certinaly has a promising future ahead and should go on to offer a decade or more of enjoyment.
