The 2020 Chateau Cafol Castillan Cotes de Bordeaux is a lovely showing. Composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon this instantly opens to aromas of cherries and plums which are joined by florals, spices, tobacco, earth, herbs and minerals that all take shape in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and structured with fine-grained tannins with a core of sweet ripened dark berries and spices that persist through the finish. This is a wonderful wine to approach now or with a few years of bottle age.
