The 2016 Mayne Valentin 'Grand Reserve' opens with aromas of cherries and plums followed by spices, cedar, tobacco, licorice and minerals all taking shape. On the palate this is nicely balanced and well structured with a velvety texture that carries on all the way through the spice-tinged finish.
