Patrick Tranchand's Saint-Amour comes from 50-year-old vines grown on clay and schist soils. It opens to pretty aromas of wild cherry, red berries, fresh spring flowers and dried spices. On the palate this nicely structered, showing a lovely elegant character, with lots of beautiful red fruits backed by hints of dark chocolate and spices that build up to the finish. This Cru Beaujolais this is delicious now and should continue to drink well over the next handful of years.
