The 2018 'Fragments' Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a wonderful showing from Stéphane Usseglio. This begins with pretty aromatics of raspberries and dark plums, woven together with exotic spices, wild herbs, black licorice, iron and hints of white pepper all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this impresses with its gorgeous texture and wonderful overall concentration and depth. It goes on to display remarkable structure and balance through the long, juicy finish. While this is delightful now, it will surely evolve gracefully for years to come. Composed of 80% Grenache, along with equal parts Syrah, Mourvedre, Counoise and Clairette Rose.
