The 2015 'Collection Charles Giraud' is an simply fascinating wine from Isabel Ferrando. Composed of 60% grenache and 40% Mourvèdre this instantly begins to impress with its remarkably complex aromatic profile of ripe black raspberries and dark plum which are laced with exotic spices, lavender, thyme, cured meats, cocoa, black olives and wet stones all taking shape beautifully. Pure, ripe and expressive this simply stunning red displays outstanding depth and concentration with wonderful poise. It remains beautifully balanced and structured with a dense core of sweetly ripe red berries and plums which expand with wonderful finesse onto the long graceful finish. Overall, this is a flat-out outstanding wine which will have long future ahead. There are few words to describe this other that simply brilliant.
