The 2011 Castiglione is another remarkable showing from Luca Currado. The grapes for the Castiglione are selected from vineyards located in Castiglione Falletto, Monforte, Barolo, and Novello, from vines ranging in age from 7 to 35 years old. The 2011 immediately impresses with its gorgeous fresh character and seductive ripe aromas of sweet strawberries and cherries followed by floral, fresh mint and crushed stones. It’s firmly structured around a beautiful silky texture that shows wonderful balance and finesse all the way through the long finish. This is just as good as last years and given the track record of Vietti’s age worthy wines, this is quite accessible.
