Another spectacular wine from Frank Cornelissen in this vintage is the 2017 'MunJebel VA'. This Nerello Mascalese is a sourced from three high elevation vineyards (Vigne Alte): Tartaraci, Monte Dolce, Pettinociarelle. The wine itself immediately begins to dazzle as it opens to stunning aromatics of black raspberries, cherries fresh cut violets, black tea, exotic spices and hints of dried orange zest that all come together and lift from the glass. On the palate this medium-bodied red possesses wonderful elegance and precision, with a gorgeous silky texture and incredible finesse. It continues to display remarkable overall balance and focus, with a notable vibrancy and a concentrated core that is nuanced with flavors of sweet red fruits resonating from it core and expanding through the seamless finish. This may be the finest ‘VA’ to date from Frank Cornelissen and it has the class and sophistication readers might expect from Grand Cru Burgundy. Simply stunning to the last drop.
