FRANK CORNELISSEN 'MunJebel' Rosso MC, Contrada Monte Colla 2019

Cornelissen's Monte Colla comes from his steep terraces vineyard that Frank refers to as the "Hermitage" of Etna. The vines were planted in 1946 and are exposed to the southwest. The wine itself is gorgeous displaying mouthwatering aromas of dark cherries, wild strawberries, and blood orange, followed by hints of violet, leather, white pepper, fresh herbs and spices. On the palate this offers outstanding balance, purity and focus, with a beautiful core of ripe red berries, earthy flavors and hints of citrus rind flavors the persist through the finish. This is fascinating today, especially with some air contact, but it should become even more compelling as it evolves over the next 10-15 years.
