A new wine from Marco De Grazia in 2015, this blend of 98% Nerello mascalese, 2% Nerello Cappuccio was sourced from the Contrada of San Lorenzo, which consists of deep volcanic soils layered with a small presence of stones. This is slow to unwind, but after time beings to releases simply striking aromatics ripe red berries and raspberries, woven together with exotic spices, floral, and hints of crushed stones. On the palate this is remarkably pure with wonderful elegance and finesse. Sweetly ripened red fruits and spices resonate at its core and burst on to the long, juicy finish. While this is already quite impressive, it will demand at least a few more years of bottle age before it begins to hit its stride. (Best 2020-2033) - January, 2018, (JD)
