The Palazzi is once again a sensational showing and a fantastic expression of world-class Merlot. Palazzi comes from a selection of older vines of merlot, comprising about five to seven hectares and spends seven months in French oak barrels. The result is a gorgeous, rich, layered Merlot that offers wonderful aromas of blackberries and black cherries which are laced with exotic spices, dark chocolate, violets and sweet pipe tobacco that all take shape. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully structured with notable power and depth. It displays excellent overall balance, with a layered core driven by ripe dark fruit characteristcs that expand through the finish. Year after year this is one of the finest examples of Merlot to come out of Italy and there is certainly no exception in this vintage.
