The 2013 Leone d’Oro Rosso di Toscana is a fantastic showing. It instantly opens with inviting aromatics of dark cherries and raspberries which are woven together with spices, dried florals, sandalwood, leather and wild herbs all taking shape. On the palate this is medium-bodied and structured with lovely overall balance and a core of fresh red fruits and spices expanding onto the finish. This is drinking beautifully today, and also has the potential to further develop over the course of the next decade. A remarkable value.
