Coming from a challenging vintage in Rioja, the 2013 'Licenciado' is a successful effort. This dark hued wine opens with a bouquet of cigar box, black plums, baking spices with suggestions of black cherry compote. The mid-palate mouthfeel is plush with a medium-full body, as it offer flavors of white pepper, Mandarin orange rind, black cherry, black tea and hints of crushed mint. Overall, this is delicious Rioja, which is accessible now and should also cellar for nearly a decade. (Best 2017-2024) - July, 2017 (OB)
