BODEGAS ESTEFANIA Tilenus 'Pieros' 2005

This wine is made from the choicest Mencia grapes at Tilenus. The grapes were hand-harvested at a high elevation (750-800 meters) and the wine had 22 months in new French oak. In terms of aromatic composition, there pronounced oak, almost excessively so with anise and black cherry as well. The wine needs more than 3 hours of decanting plus aeration to come together, as this is a wine for the patient oenophile. Given air, flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, graphite and lovely sour cherry develop alongside some moderate tannins. The mouthfeel is wonderful, having a nice mineral backbone that persists.
